CHristian Hunter & Moromi Shoyu

The Shipwright’s Daughter has an incredible lineup of amazing chefs coming to the restaurant this season, and we are kicking things off by announcing that the incomparable Christian Hunter will be making a return to Connecticut on March 9th for a chef collaboration with our very own Chef David Standridge, winner of the 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northeast.

Christian’s work can be described as a fusion of American fare with delightfully unexpected global flavors. Inspired by his childhood exposure to multicultural influences in his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky, Christian takes a whimsical approach to cuisine while supporting seasonal, local, and sustainable farming practices. Christian is the chef and owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant Atelier in Chicago, is the recipient of the Michelin Young Chef Award in 2023, and was named a finalist in the 2023 James Beard Awards for Best Chef: Northeast in our home state for his work at Community Table in Litchfield, CT.

For this collaboration, we are thrilled to be showcasing the flavors and nuances of local artisan Bob Florence of Moromi Shoyu. With an air of effortless cool that precedes him, Bob is one of only seven soy sauce producers in the U.S. We love his dynamic lineup of ever-changing soy sauces here at The Shipwright’s Daughter and cannot wait to share his talents with you!

We’ll see you on March 9th!
